There is a certain buzz that is indescribably from getting all the chapters of a book in order and ready to be formatted. This is especially the case with the current book in editing stage as I had misplaced some chapters and have only just found the disc containing them. Heaves enormous sigh of relief. Yes, there will be one more pass as I format but the major overhaul is done. Yes, I do ‘rest’ books between edits. I find this is needful for me so I can see the wood for the trees.
This book happens to be the second book of the second series. It does occur to me how much space I will have on my pc once these two have gone out the door. Ok, so I am a pack rat and save anything and everything. Still, it will be nice to put all this info on discs and have all that lovely space to fill up with new stuff. And yes, I know what my next project will be already and it is mostly written.

Darkspire Reaches is an incredible, mythical adventure with elements of romance, about searching for a place to belong. Raven is a young girl adopted by a clan who believes that a gigantic and fierce wyvern is destined to kill her. When the Emperor of the land outlaws all magic, she must flee for her life with her foster mother. The wyvern pursues her relentlessly; will it claim her as its rightful sacrifice? Or could everything she’s believed about the wyvern and magic, for the whole of her life as an outcast, be mistaken? Set in a rich and vivacious world, Darkspire Reaches is highly recommended for fans of the finest fantasy.

I don’t care what you call it, this is a box and it is mine.
I am currently working on something special and I will release it once the final piece is in place. This involves other authors and I hope you all enjoy it as much as we will. Look for the big announcement!
I am also working on another short story to release to my website and to Readwave. It will be free to read. I hope to revamp my website so there are links to each free short. It will make them easier to find. This last might take a while as I am still learning how to navigate the site. It will happen.
What I was supposed to be doing today, aside from marketing my book, was going through my pictures to get good ones of Kid 3 in her very young days. Well that didn’t work out too well as we had a major storm front rolling in and my power got sketchy. This also put paid to another plan, which was to go with Kid 2 after she finished work to her place to help plant some landscaping. Where the heck is that weather fairy, for I really need to snap her wand.
On the flip side, since there always is one, we were in no danger of another flooded basement as we have now purchased a generator. Yeah. Of course, I won’t have a web connection if the power goes down, but I will have power to the sump pump, can finish cooking supper, have the furnace running in winter and have the lights on. Oh, and I can also watch a dvd.
On another bright note, I also got to talk on Skype with a very dear writing friend, Susan Curnow. She has two very good books out right now. Games of Adversaries and Voice of the Land. Highly recommended. Go check out my reviews on Amazon. We were finalizing arrangements for our visit to the Curnows this weekend. Any author would give their eye teeth to be so near a dear colleague and BFF. Yes, we all natter on the web, but it doesn’t come anywhere close to shooting the breeze in person. I am very privileged to have met three of my dear friends in person. Of course, I see more of Sue as we are in the same Province and I am so grateful for this.
So what happens when two authors get together? LOL. The dh’s go do their thing and the girls get together to talk serious BOOK. Nothing either of us has ever written is unknown and unread by the other, so this is serious, deep and highly pleasurable. We effortlessly skip from book to book in our discussions. Yes, it is one of those special bubbles in time and space where work becomes pleasure. Any outsider would be at a total loss once we get going in our world.
This is going to be my wonderful weekend of absolute joy. Oh and not only work. We have been friends for over ten years, so there is catching up to do and shared outside interests. Hey, I get to go see her wonderful horse again! So looking forward to this.

There are more to go yet, and I have two hanging baskets up already, but the baskets aren’t full enough to show right now. No, these were not store bought arrangements. These are all me doing my thing.

This is a planting corner of my deck. Stuff might get moved around later, after dangers of frost have gone.
Some of you may know my youngest daughter is getting married in a couple of months. I need to slim down and for me, this isn’t easy. Oh ho, you cry, she eats too much, she snacks and munches and nibbles. Um no, I don’t and I am not in denial about this, I just don’t. Oh, and I don’t actually like chocholate or other candy, never eat cookies, very rarely have dessert, (maybe three of four times a year), do not buy packets of chips, let alone eat them and can’t physically eat a large meal. I am hypothyroid, which means my metabolism is really, really slow, hence the weight gain, which I counter with increasingly smaller amounts of food ingested.
The advice is to have five small meals a day. This works for the morning as I rise early and start off with museli sweetened with berries. I have also just found another cereal, some sort of granola that I mix with almonds for a brunch. After midday I might have half a sandwich, or a bowl of soup and then the problem starts as I usually skip anything else. Pop? I am aware diet sodas contain aspertame, so stay well clear of them. (This is supposed to increase weight gain more than pops sweetened with sugar as it messes with the pancreas.) Maybe three of four times a week I will have Canada Dry mixed with cranberry juice. The alternate is unsweetend grapefruit jucie, which I love and bottled water. I always have bottled water handy. Coffee? About a pot a day and only in the mornings. And yes, a couple of beers in the evening.
So, what is with this diet? The dh has seen it work with people he knows. When I look down the list of dos and don’ts I have a sinking feeling as I must raise my hand in guilt. I do love vegetables from the cabbage family, along with horseradish, peanuts, peaches, mustard and cofffee. These must be drastically cut down. I see I don’t eat enough seafood, but I will not start eating sushi, or Nori Rolls. Stroll on. The rest is doable. Another thing on the list from the friends of the dh was almonds. I don’t know why this is so, but I like them and this is not a chore.
I guess I will see how this goes as it is not a stupid diet, or a mentally taxing one, just a commonsense alteration in a few areas. Now to take some selenium, zinc and iron suppliments and then try to get on with some house painting as I would like to be pulling weeds from my yard this afternoon. (In reallity, I shall probably blast the weeds with Round-up. LOL.
